Reading Notes: Ramayana Part C
Story Focus
I found the story of Sita, Hanuman, and Rama to be very interesting to read. In this section of the Ramayana, Sita is tormented by Ravana demanding her to marry him. She refuses, but Hanuman comes to the rescue. When she is about to hang herself after being tormented by the rakshasis, Hanuman appears. However, Sita is reluctant towards Hanuman until he tells her that he is the messenger of Rama. He offers to take her to Rama, but Sita wants Rama to come to free her. She gives Hanuman her hairpin to give to Rama and tells him a story only he will know.
Hanuman sets off on his journey to Rama and sets fire to the city of Lanka. When he returns to Rama, he gives him her hairpin and tells him that Sita is safe and waiting for him. Rama is overjoyed to hear that his wife is okay.
