Isha's Introduction

Hi everyone! My name is Isha and I am a sophomore studying psychology and pre-physician's associate. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma which is two hours away from Norman. Eventually I want to attend PA school and become a certified PA. I absolutely love music of pretty much all genres (some of my favorites artists are Bon Iver, Harry Styles, Frank Ocean, Hozier, and Queen), and I played violin for about 6 years! I also love to paint and do digital art in my free time. I love watching new shows, but two of my favorites are The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. These may sound like cheesy shows--which they have some moments, but encourage everyone to watch them as they delve into deep subjects and have amazing plot lines outside of romance. Some of my favorite movies are Bohemian Rhapsody, Call Me by Your Name, and Tangled.

I am sure many of us have picked up hobbies during quarantine, a few of mine being knitting and cutting hair (sounds weird, I know). I love traveling and have been to every continent besides Antartica--see my favorite place for more! I love true crime or paranormal documentaries and podcasts and my favorite food is Thai.

One of my biggest passions in life is photography--I based my college essay about it. I started taking pictures when I was 15 and even though I have become busier with school, I still try to find time to capture beautiful moments.

I have gone through a few introduction posts for this class, and many include their pets. I unfortunately do not have a pet, although I did have a fish named Britney for 4 years. In the future, I want to be a mother to a Siberian cat and name her Eroda.

  1. I am such a fan of PAs, Isha! My father was really sick with lung cancer for several years, and honestly I sometimes felt like his doctors were not even seeing what was going on, but the PAs were so great because they really took the time to listen to him, and they found so many good solutions to the practical health challenges that he was facing and really helped make him feel better.
And about hair and cutting hair, there is so much symbolism and ritual about hair, especially women's hair, in India. So keep an eye out for when you are reading about references to that, like the vermilion (sindoor: Wikipedia) that Indian brides wear in their hair; that tradition comes up in the Ramayana, and there is a really intense plotline about the heroine of the Mahabharata, Draupadi, and her hair also.
And that is so great that you do photography! My husband is retired, and now photography is his big hobby. It is so nice having his photographs to put up all around our house. Maybe you will take some photographs specifically to go with the stories that you write: instead of looking for just the right photo already online, you can create your own! :-)

  2. Hi!
I am a psychology major as well, although I want to become a counselor. I also agree with your taste in music and TV shows. I am currently watching The Vampire Diaries as we speak! I am jealous of all the traveling you have gotten to do. I can only dream of seeing so many beautiful places. I also started cutting hair in quarantine! I still give myself haircuts now. Good luck this semester!

  3. Hi Isha! I also love Hozier, and I actually got to see him live in concert back in 2019, pre-COVID. It was the first concert I had ever been to in my life, and it was a great experience. It's also so funny that you mentioned The Vampire Diaries because my roommate starting binging it recently, and he loves it, but I think it's super cheesy. Maybe I should give it a shot!

  4. Hello Isha, it was so fun to read your introduction! It's so cool that you have played violin for six years, are you involved in the Orchestra on campus? I'm in the Symphony Band this semester, but maybe we've passed each other in the halls of Catlett Music Center without realizing it! I have kind of picked up knitting as a hobby too, but my projects are very basic because I do it more for the feel of moving my fingers than for creating something. I don't have the patience to count out the stitches of elaborate patterns. What kind of knitting do you do?

  5. Hi Isha! I’m a huge Frank Ocean fan as well, and I highly recommend listening to Endless; I don’t think it’s on Spotify, but it is on YouTube and Apple Music. Your photography skills are really impressive, and that photo of Hong Kong is absolutely stunning. I’ve been wanting to travel more too, and Hong Kong is definitely one of the places I hope to visit soon. As for TV shows, I’ll be sure to give The Vampire Diaries and The Originals a shot!

  6. Hi Isha!
That's a beautiful photo of Switzerland! Where in Switzerland were you able to travel? I am from the Konstanz area near the Black Forest. If you were not able to go there, I would highly recommend it. Not only is the Black Forest remarkably beautiful, but real black forest cake is just to die for. Good luck this semester!

  7. Hi Isha! I love that you are Pre Pa because that is something that I am also interested in if I do not get into medical school. It is such a great option nowadays that allows you to be able to switch between all different types of medical fields. I also love Harry Styles to the point where my username on every single platform is LudaStyles so I find that to be funny hahaha. I love that you love taking pictures, I wish. I was better at photography so hopefully I can work on my skills.

  8. Hi Isha, PA is an amazing career to go into and I commend you for that. I grew up speaking cantonese which is the primary language in Hong Kong and had the opportunity to visit a while ago as well. Cheesy shows are the best. They give you that good feeling that you can't get from more artistic indie shows. I've had my share of extremely cheesy shows and movies as well. In fact, thats why I started watching Kdramas. I highly recommend it!

  9. Hey Isha!

I am also a psychology major! I love all types of music, but my least favorite would have to be country. I paint as well. My favorite medium is acrylic. What about you? I have to tell you The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are so good! If you like those, you would like Legacies because it is a spinoff of those two series. That is so cool that you have been to every continent except Antarctica. Do you plan on going there one day too?

  10. Hi Isha,

I hope all things go well with your pursuance of being a PA. I know a couple of PAs and they love what they do! I am actually doing pre-med as well as getting a music degree, so I also love music. I am a singer and I also play flute. My brother is actually learning cello currently! I also have watched The Vampire Diaries and The Originals! I actually love Klaus which some people disagree with. You have also taken beautiful pictures! My husband and I are planning on a Europe vacation once Covid is over. We are definitely planning on skiing/snowboarding in Switzerland!

  11. Hi Isha!
Its very cool that you are majoring in psychology and pre-PA! I'm taking a psychology course right now for fun, and I think it is so cool! Learning about why we are the way we are and what makes us different from others has always been fascinating to me. What specialty do you want to go in as a PA? I have always wanted to play an instrument, I am just not musically inclined, but violins sound beautiful. Do you have a go-to piece you like to play? Also, your photos are stunning! I could only dream of taking as amazing photos as those.

  12. Hi Isha, I'm a big fan of Frank Ocean too! I like to play Channel Orange and Blonde whenever I'm on my long flights home during the breaks. I don't paint or do digital art specifically but I work on graphic design in my free time for fun! Your photos are great and you've definitely been to enough amazing places to capture them. I was planning on traveling to Asia before COVID hit so now my plans have been pushed back unfortunately.

  13. Hi Isha,
You have such a wide range of music you listen to! Also, congrats to Harry on winning a grammy tonight! I also picked up knitting during quarantine, I have knit a bunch of squares to make a harry styles cardigan but I have not sewn them together because I am so worried I will mess them up! Also, I have cut my hair all of quarantine and it hasn't gone too poorly yet, so here's hoping I can keep that up. I hope you keep up the photography, and can even include some of your work in your blog posts/ stories! That will definitely make them stand out more!

  14. HI Isha!! First and foremost I love your name! I also listen to a wide variety of music kinda like you do! It is very impressive that you played the violin for six years, I was going to take some violin classes when I was younger but never did so it’s amazing how you learned and continued playing for 6 years!

  15. Hello Isha!
I am also a psychology major but I happen to be pre-med rather than pre-PA. I too LOVE the vampire diaries and the Originals, Which of the two do you like more? I think if I had to choose I would pick the originals. I have recently been wanting to get into photography I just am always busy and I am unsure of what I would take pictures of, maybe I will give it a try soon!

  16. Hey Isha!

It's so cool that you've been able to travel to every continent other than Antarctica. Traveling is also one of my passions and I hope soon I'll be able to say the same. I'm also passionate about photography and love doing it as a hobby. I'm hoping that this summer I'll be able to travel and take pictures more than I have recently. You seem really cool!

  17. Hello Isha. I think that it is cool you played the violin for six years as I have never played an instrument before, and have no musical talent. I also think that it is cool you like taking photos as I have no experience with photography except for taking the occasional snapchat selfie on my phone. Also your introduction was a good read.

  18. Hello Isha! Glad to have found a fellow Northeast Oklahoma native. I'm from Muskogee so I've been to Tulsa countless times, I love that city so much. I am also a fellow big fan of TVD. I've watched it 3-4 times probably, but never got much into The Originals. My favorite show definitely has to be Outlander, which I highly recommend you check out! It's a real addiction, I started it last year in quarantine, I've already watched it all the way through twice and probably will again soon.

  19. Hey Isha! I think it is so cool that you want to go to PA school, I know a few PAs and the medical world would not survive without them! Also, I have a friend who also likes to cut hair, so I giggled when I saw that you started that as a hobby. My friend is not a hairstylist by any means, but she does a darn good job getting a straight line with scissors! Also, my absolute favorite food is Tom Yum soup! I do not know if you have tried it before, but I definitely suggest trying it if you love Thai food!

  20. Hi Isha! I think your hobbies are interesting, I also like to knit and I cut my own hair. I also enjoy watching people on youtube cutting hair - I think I just like the sound of the hair being cut. That's probably weird, but I get your interest in it!

  21. Hi Isha,
You seem like you have many things in life that attract your attention, and that is fantastic. It would be a dream to be able to visit every continent around the world, and you've done it! I truly do envy you for having travelled so much at this point in your life. You seem like an incredibly fun and interesting person, Isha.

  22. Hi Isha! I am from Tulsa too! I think it is very cool that you learned how to cut hair over quarantine! I keep trying to get my roommates to learn how to cut hair so I don't have to go and spend $20 on a haircut every month. I hope you are able to get into PA school! I have lots of friends who want to do that as well and I am wanting to be a chiropractor so I am right there with you in the health department. I hope your future works out for you!

  23. Hey Isha!
I haven't gotten travel to most continents, but I was fortunate enough to live in Germany for a couple years. I traveled all over Europe during that time. I saw that your favorite place is Switzerland. I went on a lot of short trips throughout Europe while I lived there, and I stayed in Switzerland for a few days. It's a beautiful place, the landscape is absolutely incredible.
