Time Strategies
Time management is more important than ever due to online semesters. Time has become increasingly blurred since the workplace and home are in one place. With in-person classes, it was easier to focus on the material without any distractions versus being in a bedroom on a Zoom call. The Psychology of Checklists by Lauren Marchese emphasizes something that I do to with all my classes. Checklists are very essential for me to compartmentalize my classes and pace myself to not fall behind. It is really satisfying to check off things you have done, even if they are mundane, it makes you feel accomplished. It feels just as satisfying as closing the 500 tabs open after a big paper. Eat the Frog First Thing in the Morning by Thomas Oppong was really eye-opening as he wrote bluntly about not taking up tasks that we don't like, and how we should be more comfortable with saying no. Obviously, this mostly does not work in the academic setting, but it is helpful advice for just life in general.
